The Maxwell Institute’s Nibley Fellowship Program supports full-time graduate students working in religious studies and ancient studies by providing stipends and grants. We extend our congratulations to the recipients of the 2013-14 fellowships. See here for more information about our Nibley Fellowship Program.
For many of our previous Nibley Fellows 2013 was a good year. Some have gone on to contribute directly to the work of the Maxwell Institute, while others have been distinguished elsewhere in the academy. To these we extend our gratitude and congratulations:
Joseph Spencer (2013-14) was appointed associate editor of the Journal of Book of Mormon Studies.
Dan Belnap (1998-2005) advanced to the rank of associate professor of Ancient Scripture (Religious Education, BYU).
Lincoln Blumell (2003-8) received the F. W. Beare Award for his Lettered Christians: Christians, Letters, and Late Antique Oxyrhynchus (Leiden/Boston: Brill, 2012).
Brian Hauglid (1996-97) was appointed Director of the Laura F. Willes Center for Book of Mormon Studies and editor of the Journal of Book of Mormon Studies, stepping down as the editor of Studies in the Bible and Antiquity after five splendid issues.
