Titled: Here by Thy Help I've Come
This piece was influenced by my favorite hymn “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.” The hymn humbly expresses our need to be succored by the Savior in order to return to our Heavenly home. The third and fourth verses have always stuck out to me:
…
Here I raise my Ebenezer
Here by Thy great help I've come
And I hope by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wandering from the fold of God
He to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood
…
When I envisioned these verses, I imagined that when the Savior ventures out to find me wandering away from the gospel He gently takes my hand and safely leads me the rest of the way back home. “Here by Thy Great Help I’ve Come” is a depiction of that daydream, focused on the loving hand of Christ lifting up the hand of anyone in need of His guidance.
