Half a millennium ago, Martin Luther changed the Christian world forever with his 95 Theses. October 31, 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of their dissemination. This September 15th, eight leading scholars gathered at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah to discuss the historical and theological legacies of the Reformation(s), both in Europe and America. The one-day conference featured Roger E. Olson, Jennifer Powell McNutt, Brad Gregory, Grant Wacker, Michelle C. Sanchez, Carlos Eire, Craig Harline, and Laurie Maffly-Kipp—each speaking on “The Living Reformation.” Craig Harline, BYU professor of history and co-organizer of the conference, expresses his gratitude for everyone who participated and attended this landmark event. “I was thrilled that my friends Brad Gregory and Carlos Eire agreed to participate,” Harline said, “and also to meet the other speakers I hadn’t previously known. The conference was even better than I’d hoped it would be, full of interesting papers and fantastic music and food, and excellent organization; even that windowless room we were relegated to in the Wilkinson Student Center turned out to be absolutely perfect for what we were doing. So, a huge thanks to all.”
