A Podcast for Graduate Students
Graduate school will test your mettle. Faith in Every Footnote is a mentorship podcast for Latter-day Saint graduate students seeking to maintain faith in Jesus Christ through the challenges of academic life, including the job search, family life, intellectual questions, and more. Over ten episodes, hosts Rosalynde Welch and Shawn Tucker, alongside student hosts Noah Adams and Lara Buckwalter, sit down with leading scholars for candid discussions about the joys and travails of graduate study. These conversations will inspire anyone, inside or outside academia, invested in the broader project of disciple-scholarship.
Transcript
Jared Halverson: I’ve joked that grad school is where faith goes to die, but also that grad school is where faith goes to develop.
Brigitte C. Madrian: There are gonna be moments when you’re sitting in class and you feel like you have no idea what the professor at the front of the room is talking about. I guarantee that if you’re feeling that way, at least fifty percent of the other students in the room are feeling the same way.
Spencer Fluhman: She said, “You’ve done what graduate students are trained to do. You seek and destroy.” She said, “But the question I want to leave with you is, can you build something?”
Rosalynde F. Welch: I think that is great advice. Thank you so much for joining us on Faith in Every Footnote.
