Kristian Heal
Associate Director, Research Fellow

Kristian Heal is associate director of the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship and an assistant research professor.

Heal joined the staff of the Institute as a research scholar in 2000. Since 2004 he served the director of the Center for the Preservation of Ancient Religious Texts.

Kristian received a bachelor’s degree in Jewish history and Hebrew from University College, London, a Master of Studies in Syriac studies from the University of Oxford, and took his Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Birmingham.

Kristian studies the history and literature of Syriac speaking Christians in Late Antiquity.
